The Nora Deutsch Foundation was established on May 6, 2017, in Keller, Texas — a tribute to a woman who gave everything she had to those around her, and asked for nothing in return.
A Life Spent Giving
Nora Deutsch de Torquemada was not a wealthy woman. She didn't have access to great resources or powerful connections. What she had was an enormous heart — and she used it every single day.
She knitted sweaters by hand for infants she would never meet, knowing only that a baby somewhere was cold. She distributed food to families experiencing poverty in her community, often giving what little she had without a second thought. She was a dedicated member of a South American charitable organization focused on helping the disadvantaged, and her faith deepened her commitment to those around her.
The Moment That Changed Everything
In 2009, Nora suffered a stroke. The physical impact was significant, limiting what she could do on her own. But it could not change who she was. The woman who had spent decades serving others was now cared for by her own children — and in doing so, they saw up close the full depth of her legacy.
Three siblings — Patricia, Roxana, and Edmundo — made a decision together: their mother's spirit of giving would not stop with her. If her hands couldn't reach the people who needed help, theirs would.
The Foundation Is Born
On May 6, 2017, they registered the Nora Deutsch Foundation as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization in the state of Texas. From the very first day, the mission was clear: help people in need, directly, without politics, without waste, and without delay.
Each cause the foundation supports — whether it's delivering food in Venezuela, providing medicines to those who can't afford them, or helping children stay in school — is a direct continuation of what Nora started in her living room, on her sofa, with her knitting needles and her prayers.
Help us carry her legacy forward
Every donation is a continuation of Nora's life's work.
